Comments

Balboa was a Spaniard, first European who crossed the Isthmus, reached the Pacific by land, and discovered the Perlas Archipelago (1513).

Since its separation from Colombia in 1903, Panama has used the United States Dollar. These coins have the same specifications as the United States Quarter and circulated alongside it.

Due to the rising price of silver, the United States phased out the use silver coinage and released copper-nickel clad copper coins in their place. Panama followed suit in 1966.
