I was looking around and found some new zealand and Australia coins but they were the same patten but 2x the size why is this

The sizes of the coins were reduced in 2006....or do you mean twice the size of the old pre-2006 coins?

There are oversized coins. One member here (although I can't quite remember who) had a huge gothic coin. It may have been ZacUK from memory.
I think they were made as patterns but don't quote me on that.
