I recently purchased a proof set from Nepal with some corroded coins. I am wondering, should I open it to add the coins to my collection.
Is it okay to open it? On the Internet the set with one or two corroded coins seems to sell for $10.

I removed the coins from my set and stored in flips, the brass coin was corroded. I think the carboard holder they have inside the plastic box is acidic... and causes the corrosion

Okay thanks! I assume we are both talking about the 1973 set.
My brass coin is the one with the most corrosion but some of the other ones as well.

Yes I have the 1971 and the 1973 sets. They both have similar holders

It's surprisingly hard to open - I did it with a hammer!
