In 2015 the government of the Isle of Man has decided that they discontinue the issuance of the 50p Christmas coins, a series that has been issued for 35 years. The government of Gibraltar decided the same but after protests of collectors has now decided that they will continue the Christmas 50p series. The 2015-dated Christmas 50p coin of Gibraltar will be issued tomorrow.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry - I would like to collect these but most of the time they too expensive to collect. Still I wouldn't want them to stop minting them. Still I might win lottery one day .

I would be prepared to buy some, but the difficulties are that I an unable to find any.
They seem to be the most elusive coins of the modern era.
I have a few but not that many.
Someone is hoarding them.
I'm just a collector of coins, not a slave to it, unless I am in a coin shop.

I' ve contacted my local coin dealer and even he hasn't got any. This is now becoming a serious problem for those collectors who love this type of coin, including me.
I think we need to hire Sherlock Holmes to investigate.

I deny nothing but doubt everything, opinions are made to be changed, how else is the truth to be gotten at.

I once got an Isle of Man Xmas 50p in my change. I consider myself extremely lucky for it ! I have a lot of the Gibraltar issues but don't want to get into the IOM issues as the gib ones are expensive enough.

you can also buy online from Gibraltar-stamps they actually have a small shop in Gib. Alternatively if you know anyone in or visiting soon you can send them to the Gibraltar savings bank where you can get an xmas 50p for face value. I got the last one they had for 2015 last summer.
