The Republic of Asti was a medieval city state in the Italian region of Piedmont that existed from 1095 until 1342. It received minting rights from Holy Roman Emperor Conrad II in 1140. In 1342, it became part of the Duchy of Milan, and in 1531 it was passed to the Duchy of Savoy.
