Coins from the Barony of Carytaena

"Hugh de Briel was the first Baron of Carytaena in Arcadia, which was to become the largest and best fortified baronies of Frankish Achaea. It was an autonomous barony until c. 1320 when it was sold to the Governor of Mistra. Carytaena is one of the two vassals of Frankish Achaea known to have issued its own coins. The coins are of only one type, billon deniers very consistent in style, issued at the end of the 13th century. "
