CoinsLivonia › Duchy of Livonia

The Duchy of Livonia existed from 1561 as part of the Grand Duchy of Livonia, and later became part of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth starting 1569 when Poland and Lithuania joined together. In 1621, Sweden took over Livonia's largest city, Riga, and in 1629, Sweden managed to take over the rest of Livonia, officially abolishing the Duchy.
