Obverse

The mini-medal represents the work Dada Stainless by artist Subodh Gupta which was designed between 2010 and 2013. It is a surreal banyan tree made of a stainless steel trunk and roots, its foliage and fruits are in the form of various sized utensils, also made of stainless steel. "Dada" means "Grandfather" in Hindi. It symbolizes Indian heritage and family ties. According to the artist, "The tree and its title 'Dada', the Hindi word for grandfather, the patriarch under whom the protection of a family thrives and one sees his own reflection.

"Dada" is also an obvious nod to Dadaism. An outstanding visual artist, Gupta plays with matter and form. Through skilful processes, he assembles and reinvents everyday objects, finding his inspiration in surrealism.Automatically translated
