Unveiling of the "Big Nickel" Monument

Obverse

"Big Nickel" statue in Sudbury, a giant replica of the Canadian 5-cent coin from 1951 standing 9 meters tall, surrounded by various legends.

The "Big Nickel" was constructed as a unique tourist attraction and to commemorate Sudbury's extensive nickel industry. It was officially opened in 1964.
