Queen Máxima was born Maxima Zorreguieta on 17 May 1971 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Queen Maxima has two brothers, a sister and three half-sisters. She spends most of her childhood in her hometown. In Buenos Aires she finds her first job after her studies at the University of Argentina. She also teaches English to children and adults. In 1996 she moves to New York, where she continues her career.
During this period she meets Prince Willem-Alexander and a love affair blossoms. Not long afterwards, Maxima moves to Brussels to hold a position for the Deutsche Bank, but above all to live closer to Willem-Alexander.
On March 30, 2001, Princess Beatrix, then Queen, and Prince Claus announced the engagement of the Prince of Orange to Maxima Zorreguieta. The mayor of Amsterdam, mr. M.J. Cohen, celebrates the civil marriage on February 2, 2002 in the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam.
On December 7, 2003, the first child of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima was born, Princess Catharina-Amalia, the current Princess of Orange. Their second daughter, Princess Alexia, was born on June 26, 2005, followed by Princess Ariane on April 10, 2007
