Comments

The Crowsnest Pass is a mountain pass crossing the Continental Divide (the geographic boundary between rivers that empty into the Pacific Ocean and rivers that empty into the Atlantic Ocean), which also serves as the provincial border between British Columbia and Alberta. Five coal-mining communities in the area - Bellevue, Blairmore, Coleman, Frank, and Hillcrest - have been amalgamated into the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass since 1979. Together, they have a population of 5,565. As it became less profitable to mine coal in the region, the main industry shifted to tourism, and the area is today full of museums and historical sites.
