The Cook Islands is an island country in the South Pacific located between American Samoa and French Polynesia. It is in free association with New Zealand, which takes care of its defence and its monetary affairs. All Cook Islanders have New Zealand passports. The population residing on the islands is around 15,000, with many more living in New Zealand.
