Coins from the Kingdom of Leon

The Kingdom of Leon was a medieval kingdom located in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula. Although it had existed since 910, it only issued its own coins in an interval in which it separated from the Kingdom of Castile, between 1157 and 1230. Most of its coins were made of billon, but there are some of gold following to Al Andalus metrology. The designs have a cross and a schematic lion.
