Coins from Saint-Pol

Saint-Pol came to House of Luxembourg in 1360 via Mahaut of Chatillon, wife of Guy VI of Luxembourg, lord then count of Ligny and as such successor to his grandfather Walram II. By the marriage of Antoine of Burgundy, Duke of Brabant (1406-1415) with Jeanne of Saint-Pol, only daughter of Walram III, their son Philip of Saint-Pol, Duke of Brabant (1427-1430) inherited the county in 1415. After his childless death, Saint-Pol returned to the house of Luxembourg and Philip was replaced by John III, grandson of Guy VI. The counts of Saint-Pol minted coins at Élincourt, Ligny, Saint-Pol, Serain and by Philip of Saint-Pol before his succession in Brabant also in his Dutch possessions.
