The first coins minted in Romans appear under Guigues VI. There was no mint in Romans-sur-Isère specially assigned to the production of coins; each master placed his workshop in suitable premises owned or rented by him and probably used successively by several directors. By an edict of May 1554, Henri II definitively suppressed the mint of Romans-sur-Isère.
