Comments

Juana de Ibarbourou (1892-1979) was the most important poet of Uruguay, considered one of the best of Latin America, which caused to be named on 1929 "Juana de América" (Juana of America), while was young. With a very important amount of books, poems, and other writings, was member of the National Academy of letters (Literature).

The allegory in center of banknote is a security feature, as is printed on both sides of the paper, and when looked as transparency must match perfectly, is based on the poem "El cántaro fresco" (the fresh jug).

The palm shown on the reverse was of her property, and currently is place at Montevideo's sea shore street. besides is placed a marble stone, with "Poem to palm" written on it.

Reposition serial ("Z" prefix).

Variants are reposition notes, identified, for serial "C" added "Z" to start of numbers ("Z"+8 digits). (No official reposition issues on serial "D"); no other variant exist in this series.

On serial "D" were printed 60 million banknotes, and there are no official reposition issues, but since exist notes with serials over 60 million, they are considered as reposition between collectors.

NOTE: By mistake, on Krause it shows as 2004 (series "B") issue belongs to this type, and also shows it on 1995/2004 series (only date, not series letter), P# 79; other mistake is shows same series printer as FCO, but was printed by Giesecke & Devrient.
