Obverse

The hand engraved portrait of the impressionist painter Rihard Jakopič is the main motif on the front of the banknote. The profile silhouette filled up with microwriting completes the image. In the middle of the left hand area of the banknote a painting palette and two paintbrushes are depicted. The watermark bears the face of Rihard Jakopič.

The left side of the banknotes is stamped with “Banka Slovenije 1991-2001” in gold.

Reverse

On the back a detail from Jakopic´s painting "The Sun" is represented, and the plan of the former Jakopic Pavilion in Ljubljana is printed by the intaglio method.

Comments

The tolar banknotes featured designs by Miljenko Licul and Zvone Kosovelj, with portraits by the artist Rudi Španzel.

Overprint on SLOVENIA P-14 (10.000 pieces issued).

On 8 October 2001, ten years to the day after Slovenia’s new currency was introduced, the Bank of Slovenia released 1,000 sets consisting of a 10,000 tolar note, a 1,000 tolar note and a 100 tolar note for sale. The left side of the banknotes is stamped with “Banka Slovenije 1991-2001” in gold. In addition to these sets, a further 4,000 1,000 tolar notes and 9,000 100 tolar notes were released into circulation.
