Obverse

The hand engraved portrait of the poet France Prešeren is the main motif on the front of the banknote. The profile silhouette filled up with microwriting completes the image. In the upper left hand area of the banknote a facsimile of Preseren´s signature is printed by the intaglio method. The watermark bears the face of France Prešeren. In the middle of the back of the banknote part of the text from "The Toast" is printed.

“2004” written vertically, with the final numeral being transformed over five stages into a five-pointed star.

Comments

The tolar banknotes featured designs by Miljenko Licul and Zvone Kosovelj, with portraits by the artist Rudi Španzel.

Overprint on SLOVENIA P-32 (5.000 pieces issued).

To mark the signing of Slovenia’s agreement on full membership of the European Union in Athens in April 2003, the Bank of Slovenia issued banknotes for 10,000 tolars, 1,000 tolars and 100 tolars that have a special gold feature on the left side of the portrait: “2004” written vertically, with the final numeral being transformed over five stages into a five-pointed star.
