Benito Juárez (1806–1872) was a Zapotec born poor and orphaned at a young age, who taught himself Spanish and Law, and eventually rose through the political ranks to the presidency. He successfully led Mexico through the both the Reform War and the Second French Intervention, firmly establishing Mexican sovereignty on the international stage.

The obverse of this note is distinguished from P#65 by the removal of the second serial number and the second series designation.
