Cape St. Vincent (Portuguese: cabo São Vicente) is a cape in the Portuguese municipality of Sagres, in the extreme west of the Algarve region. A lighthouse and monastery (shown on the ticket) were built here. Nearby is the Sagres fortress. The cape to Sagres is dotted with Neolithic menhirs, demonstrating a long history as a sacred site. Several naval battles have taken place off the cape, including that of 1797 between Spain and Great Britain.
