Comments

In contrast to growing in trade between foreign merchants, Siam could not produce enough silver coins and various branches of foreign bank has to issue their own bank notes. Siam then had the idea to issue the banknote to cover the lacking silver coins. Siam then order the notes from Giesecke & Devrient, Germany.
However, Franco-Siamese War broke out just before the issuing of the notes. In consequence, Siam is forced to pay huge number of money in silver coins, worsening the situation. The government afraid that they don't have enough silver coins backing the paper money, the Royal Siamese Treasury notes were never issued into circulation. Fearing that the notes would be misused, the notes were all destroyed except for a few that were kept as samples.
