Obverse

Built shortly before 1910, Fort Breendonk served as a concentration camp during the Second World War. Initially, it was mainly Jews who were detained there, but later on were added "asocials", political prisoners and resistance fighters. 3532 people were held there, 1733 died there until September 1944. On the ticket, view of the fort behind barbed wire and a sign prohibiting access under penalty of being shot.
