Comments

Kimberley, deep in the Rocky Mountains, is mainly a resort town and tourist attraction. It was once common practice for Canadian companies to hire mountaineers from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland as guides in the Canadian Rockies, and Kimberley has ended up with a strange kind of Bavarian-style architecture. This adds to its tourist appeal and these "thaler" (a traditional large German silver coin) tokens are designed to show off Kimberley's Bavarian heritage.
