Muhammad al-Mahdî ben 'Abd Allah al-Mansur or Al-Mahdii, the third Abbasid caliph, was born in 746. He succeeded his father Al-Mansur as Caliph in 775. He died on 4 August 785.
Koufa or Kûfa (الكوفة [al-kūfa]) is a city in Iraq.
