Charles Edward Barber was the sixth Chief Engraver of the United States Mint from 1879 until his death in 1917. Although Barber's coins were met with mixed reviews, he had a long and fruitful career in coinage, designing most of the coins used at the mint during his time as Chief Engraver.

1994, minted at Canada: out of the most noticeable difference: medal rotation vs. coin rotation on the other years, there are design variations:  
On obverse, shield has variations and fonts are slightly different; on reverse, Church and houses drawing have differences.

The city of Trinidad (Trinity) is located on center of the country, is the capital of Sancti Spiritus municipe, in same name province, and was the 3rd. town founded by Spain in Cuba, about 1514.
Trinidad and Valle de los Ingenios (near Trinidad) were declared humanity patrimony by UNESCO, owing to their abundance of colonial buildings, and specially for its excellent conservation state.

Known variations on year issues:
1994: Medal rotation instead of coin as on the rest years, differences on both faces.
2000: Thick small straight date.
2003: Normal date.
             Narrow date.
2006:  Thin round straight date.
             Thick round straight date.
2007: Thin sharp straight date.
2008: Thin round curved date (small).
2018: Thin straight date.

1994, acuñada en Canadá: Además de la diferencia más notoria, giro medalla contra giro moneda en las demás emisiones, hay variaciones en el diseño:
En el anverso, el escudo tiene diferencias y la tipografía es ligeramente diferente; en el reverso, el diseño de de la iglesia y de las casas tienen diferencias.

La ciudad de Trinidad está localizada en el centro del país, es la capital del municipio de Sancti Spiritus, en la provincia del mismo nombre, y fue la tercera localidad fundada por España en Cuba, cerca de 1514.
Trinidad y el Valle de los Ingenios, cercano a Trinidad, fueron declarados Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO, debido a la abundancia de edificaciones coloniales, y especialmente por su excelente estado de conservación.
