Luhansk (Ukrainian: Луганськ, translit. Luhans'k, [luˈɦɑnʲsʲk]) or Lugansk (Russian: Луганск [ɫʊˈɡansk]), formerly known as Voroshilovgrad (1935–1958 and 1970–1990) is a city near the eastern border of Ukraine and western Russia.
Luhansk is the capital and administrative center of the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR), a rebel group that has held the city since 2014. Until to its capture by LPR, Luhansk was the administrative center of the Luhansk Oblast.
