The Royal Australian Mint in conjunction with some Australian Newspapers released this NCLT coin as part of a 14 coin set in April 2017. The first coin came with a large folding album and the coins were issued in coincards. The series is called "Legends of the Anzacs - Medals of Honour".
To get a coin you had to obtain a token from the newspaper and redeem it at a cost of $3.00. Different tokens were published each day for 2 weeks (hence 14 coins). The coins are commemorating various service medals awarded to Australian Military personnel from the Boer War to the Afghanistan War.
Ten of the 14 coins released in the series are 20 cent coins and four of them are 25 cent coins.
This particular 20 cent coin refers to the Australian Active Service medal 1975 - 1975 which was authorised in 1997 and awarded to members of the Australian Defence Force who served on warlike operations between 1945 and 1975. The clasp worn on the ribbon denotes service in Korea and Vietnam, where more than 17,000 and 60,000 Australians served respectively, as well as involvement in operations across Malaya, Thailand and Thai-Malay.
