John Flanagan (1865–1952)was a sculptor who was known for his designs for coins and medals.

Portrait of Helen Keller, the first deafblind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree, and her name in English and in a reduced-size version of Braille, an Alabama long leaf pine branch wtih magnolias gracing the sides of the design, and the Spirit of Courage banner underlining the image.

Engraver: Norman E. Nemeth

Norman E. Nemeth was born in Newport News, Virginia. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1961, where he served as a jet mechanic. After being discharged, he attended the Hartford Art School of the University of Hartford. Following graduation, he spent eleven years as a designer-sculptor for the Franklin Mint.
