Comments

The Royal Australian Mint in conjunction with Australian Newspapers released this NCLT coin as part of a 15 coin series called "Anzac Spirit" in October/November 2018. The Anzac Spirit coins are commemorating  the "Values that Defined our Nation"

To get a coin you had to obtain a paper token from the newspaper and redeem it at a cost of $3.00. Different tokens were published each day for just over 2 weeks (hence 15 coins). The first coin was free and came with an album to hold all 15 coins.

Eleven of the 15 coins released in the series are 20 cent coins and four of them are 50 cent coins. They were issued in a collector coin card. This 50 Cent coin is not meant for circulation however it is legal tender.

This particular coin refers to the Daring Value. A year after the famous victory at Beersheba, where mounted light horsemen wielding bayonets pierced enemy positions with a cavalry-style charge, Australian mounted troops helped win another crucial action: at Megiddo. This was the final Allied offensive against the Ottomans in Palestine and Syria which began on 19th September 1918 and assisted in a final conclusion to WW1
