Comments

The Royal Australian Mint in conjunction with some Australian Newspapers released this NCLT coin as part of a 15 coin set in October/November 2018. The first coin came with a large folding album and the coins were issued in coincards. The series is called "Anzac Spirit - Values that Defined our Nation".

To get a coin you had to obtain a paper token from the newspaper and redeem it at a cost of $3.00. Different tokens were published each day for just over 2 weeks (hence 15 coins).
Eleven of the 15 coins released in the series are 20 cent coins and four of them are 50 cent coins. They were issued in a collector coin card. This 20 Cent coin is not meant for circulation however it is legal tender.

This particular coin refers to the Knowledgeable Value. General Sir John Monash is considered one of Australia's most outstanding commanders. A Forceful personality and an engineer in civilian life, he rose to prominence in the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) after commanding the 4th Brigade on Gallipoli and the 3rd Australian Division on the Western Front. Monash was willing to implement new technologies into his battle planning, such as coordinating infantry, tanks, artillery and aircraft in a way that had never been done before, in the hope of solving the problem of the deadlock on the Western Front. This included Australian aircraft carrying boxes of ammunition into action and dropping them to ground troops, where re-supply was vital. He led the AIF through its most successful actions in France in the final year of the war.
