Comments

This NCLT Aluminium-bronze $1 coin which commemorates Australia's Bushranger Era was initially issued by the RAM on the MYO Public Press in the Visitor Gallery at the Mint for a cost of $3.00. The Jody Clark 6th Portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is used on the obverse of this coin. It is issued in a long coincard with six different images of the various Wild Colonial Bushrangers.

Subsequently it has been released as follows :-
The Sydney Royal Easter Show with a (S) Counterstamp.
The Brisbane ANDA Money Expo with a (B) Counterstamp
The Melbourne ANDA Money Expo with a (M) Counterstamp
The Annual Limited Edition Four Coin Legends Set with a "C" Mintmark
At Ram Pop-Up Events with an Australia "MAP" Counterstamp  (Above images are of this coin))

Colonial Australia was a dangerous place, with renegades known as bushrangers roaming the roads and towns. The exploits of Australia's most notorious bushranging gang; Ned Kelly with his companions Dan Kelly, Joe Byrne and Steve Hart are part of Australia's folklore. During a time of social and political unrest, the Kelly Gang with their iconic armour sparked a reputation that passed into legend. With this four coin set the RAM remembers the nefarious Kelly Gang. Their anti-establishment stance; courage under fire and sympathy for the underdog, have become characteristic of the Australian 'larrikin' identity.

A coin with the same Reverse is also available in the Four Coin NCLT Year Set issued by the RAM with 'C' Mintmark & [B], [S], [M] Privymarks". However it has the Ian Rank-Broadley 4th Portrait Obverse.
