To denounce the controversial sinking of 'U.41' by Q-ship 'Baralong' in 1915 (the Q-ship continued to fly American colours). One of the German survivors reported that 'Baralong' had run down his lifeboat.
A fist rising out of the sea pointing at the white ensign with 'U', '4' and '1' placed each in the three empty squares of the flag.
