The Australian Fine Silver (.999) Decimal Proof set was first introduced by the RAM in 2003.

However the first time the "Mob of Roos" (with IRB obverse) coin was included in the set was in 2004.
This particular set also included a 5 cent, 10 cent, 20 cent, 50 cent & $2 Fine Silver coin.

This Fine Silver (.999) Proof version of the standard definitive "Mob of Roos" reverse 1 Dollar coin is the same design as the Aluminium-bronze coin used in everyday circulation in Australia. The Ian Rank-Broadley Obverse is the third effigy of QE II used on this iconic $1 coin.

In 2003 the "Australia Volunteers" reverse was used on the $1 coin in the Fine Silver set.
In 2005 the "End of WW II" reverse was used on the $1 coin in the Fine Silver set.
In 2006 the "Machin" obverse was used on the MOR $1 coin in the Fine Silver set.
In 2007 the "Surf Lifesaver" reverse was used on the $1 coin in the Fine Silver set.
In 2008 the "Planet Earth" reverse was used on the $1 coin in the Fine Silver set.

Then from 2009 onwards the MOR coin with Rank-Broadly obverse was used in all Fine Silver sets except the 2016 Fine Silver set which did not contain a dollar coin at all and the 2018 Fine Silver set which used the "Armistice" reverse..
