Comments

This Fine Silver (.999) NCLT Proof 20 Cent coin was struck by the Perth Mint in 2009.  It was available at the 2009 ANDA Coin show on the Gold Coast in a special numbered coincard.

It was also released in a five coin Silver Proof Set with other Australian Decimal Pattern coins.

The coin's reverse portrays the grace and majesty of the Australian Black Swan in flight by Andor Meszaros (1900-1972). The design was suggested for the reverse of Australia's new 20 cent decimal coin in 1966 although it was not selected, (The iconic Platypus was used) the magnificent image is fondly remembered by many for its appearance on the obverse of Australia's legendary, but unofficial, 1967 "Goose" Dollar.
