Comments

Catálogo de Monedas y Ensayos de la República del Paraguay. Miguel Angel Pratt Mayans, 2013 (M45).
Striked over French coin Napoleon III. Paris mint.
Very unusual, this rare mule was produced at the Paris mint with an obverse die of a Napoleon III 5 Francs and then the obverse was apparently silver-plated. The strike is excellent as with nearly all Paris mint emissions of this period and the obverse at least is somewhat prooflike, although there is a fair amount of chatter in the fields of both sides.
Highly unusual and clearly quite rare.
Estimated value: USD 1500
