Comments

Released by the RAM in September 2019 is this NCLT Copper-nickel 50 cent coin. It was issued in a Coincard for $10 and sold out from the Mint within 3 days. It commemorates 70 Years of ASIO.

For the last 70 years the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) has protected Australia, its citizens and its interests from those who would seek to do us harm. This evocative 50c uncirculated coin commemorates ASIOs ongoing efforts to protect us.

The coin design includes a unique one-time pad list of random letters that were used by operatives during the Cold War, to encrypt and decode secret messages. A competition to decrypt the coded message on the coin will give one lucky person the chance to win the only proof commemorative coin in existence that features the 70th Anniversary of ASIO coin design.
