Year of the Outback
4th portrait of Queen Elizabeth II facing right wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara
Lettering:
ELIZABETH II
AUSTRALIA 2002
5 DOLLARS
IRB
Holograph on top half of coin. The struck design below is an image of The Olgas as if they are being reflected in rainwater.
Lettering: YEAR OF THE OUTBACK
Continuous reeding

The scene on the holograph part of the coin is based on photographs of The Olgas. With the wonder of modern Optically Variable Device technology you can see The Olgas bathed in the soft morning light. Moving the coin, it's almost as if the sun is rising higher because The Olgas redden in the deat of the day and late afternoon. Then moving the coin again, they darken into the outback twilight.
This is the second hologram coin issued by the Mint.
