Born in 1677 in Zürich, Hans Jakob Gessner was the Zürich mint master from 1701 until 1728. He was one of the best known medallists from Zürich after Hans Jakob Stampfer (1505-1579). Hans Jakob Gessner died in Zürich in 1737.
