Comments

The Viennoises and Obolen with the portrait from the front are among the rarest small nouns of the barons of the Vaud. Only a large number shows the seated Ludwig II. After his death in 1349, this Savoyard branch of the family died out, whereupon Caterina, the daughter of Ludwig II, took over the government business. In 1352, Caterina married Wilhelm I. Dampierre, Count of Namur, whereupon he subsequently took on the title of Lord of the Vaud. Seven years later, the couple had to transfer their possessions to Amadeus VI for 160,000 gold guilders.
