Comments

This type with a helmeted bust has a long history in the history of the Reims mint. A first bimetallic series was issued in the second half of the 7th century. The gold triens were struck around 650-660 by the moneyer Leudelinus and were replaced around 670 by anonymous pale gold triens bearing the letters AR on the reverse. Finally, around 680, they were replaced by silver deniers with the chrism on the reverse.
