Comments

NOTE: Mintage for 1391 (1971) is the official mintage figure reported for Qatar by British Royal Mint

In 1966, India devalued the rupee, and Qatar and Dubai adopted the Gulf Riyal (refereed as rupee also) as a common currency for both its sheikdoms between 1966 &1973. During this period Dubai was a vassal state of Qatar & had very close relation with Qatar.
Ahmad bin Ali Al Thani was the emir of the State of Qatar from 1960 to 1972
Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum was the Emir of Dubai 1958 to 1990

Dubai adopted UAE dirham in 1973 (After getting merged into United Arab Emirates in 1971) and
Qatari issued its own currency from 1973 (Qatari Riyal)
