Tom Phillips (born 25 May 1937) is an English artist. He was born in London, where he continues to work. He is a painter, printmaker and collagist. He is a member of the Royal Academy since 1989 and designed a Royal Mint commemorative five-pound coin for the 50th anniversary of the 1953 coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.




Released individually in 2005 while also being struck in copper-nickel, silver proof and gold proof. Issue Limit: 7,500

The coin was re-issued in 2009 as part of the 16-piece set (1,168 sales) to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the 50 pence denomination. The 2009 issue was also struck in copper-nickel, gold proof and gold piedfort. Issue limit: 5,000.
