This $1 Fine Silver Australia Olympic Team Proof Coin was issued by the Perth Mint to commemorate Australia's participation in the 2008 Summer Olympics held in Beijing China. It was issued in capsule in a plush case.
On 8 August 2008, the world's best sportsmen and women converge on the Chinese capital for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad. After finishing fourth overall with 49 medals at Athens 2004, an Australian Olympic team comprising nearly 500 athletes is proudly participating in Beijing. Coin is mintmarked with The Perth Mint's 'P'.
