Comments

This sort of coin was produced for circulation in the Ottoman Empire, where they were also known as timeens. It was an imitation of a 1 1/2 écu of Dombes with a lower silver content. The coin was very popular in the Ottoman Empire, but by the late 1660s the economy was so flooded with substandard imitations that the state intervened to stop their circulation.
