This variant would be the only accepted variant for legal tender currency; because after the 1997 monetary reform all older coins fell in disuse, they can be easily exchanged at banks, but stores won't accept them because of the outdated designs. Most denominations got new types because of this reform, but in this coin's case the same coin had a design revision rather than a complete type change. Machines would mostly only accept the reeded version of this variant because of this.
