This circulating commemorative $1 coin was released by the RAM to celebrate the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting which was held in October 2011 in Perth, Western Australia. The event hosted the largest gathering of world leaders ever in Western Australia which included Queen Elizabeth II and then Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard.
