Gilroy Roberts was a sculptor, gemstone carver, and the ninth Chief Engraver of the United States Mint between 1948 and 1964. He is notable for having designed the obverse of the Kennedy Half Dollar.Edge

Comments
The mintmark, if present, is above the bell and below the "E" of "STATES".
The "Bugs Bunny" variety is the result of a die clash, which results in what appears to be two protruding teeth from Franklin's mouth (see picture). While most common in 1955, this die clash is known on other dates as well.
There are two types of reverse, Type 1 has four wing feathers to the left of the perch, and Type 2 has three wings to the left of the perch (see following Type 1/2 images):
