Fa: Maschinenfabrik

The engineer Robert Ardelt (* 1847, † 1925) opened a technical industrial office in Eberswalde in 1902, which was expanded into a machine factory in the following years. The company was called "Robert Ardelt & Söhne Maschinenfabrik" from 1904 and was renamed "Ardelt-Werke GmbH" in 1912, although it remained family-owned. Further branches were opened in Berlin, Hamburg and Düsseldorf. The offer included cranes, hoists, foundry equipment, steel constructions, etc., and Ardelt was also involved in the construction of the Niederfinow ship lift on the Oder-Havel Canal. In the 1930s, small motor locomotives and steam-powered slewing rail cranes were added, but these were only manufactured in small numbers.
