The Depositary of the Council recognized in favor of the bearer the amount of One Peseta by virtue of the agreement dated March 23, 1937.

Local Spanish Civil War banknotes: Created by municipalities, cooperatives, unions and other organizations due to the scarcity of fiduciary currency in small purchases and exchanges during the Spanish Civil War.

NOTE:: Two issues of 1 Peseta banknotes were made with the same date (March 21, 1937) but 2nd Issue made later. The differences are explained below.

1st ISSUE March 21, 1937: 1 Peseta, Turró#969, Signatures NOT printed. Without Serial Number and Series A - B (Mintage 1000 each). Series above the coat of arms on obverse. Lettering “…de UNA pesseta…” (Image below from Aureo & Calicó website)

   

2nd ISSUE March 21, 1937 (but made later on unknown date): 1 Peseta, Turró#971, Signatures printed. Series C - D - E (Mintage 1000 each). Series under the coat of arms on obverse. Lettering “…d'UNA pesseta…” (Image below from Aureo & Calicó website)
