In 1973, an unknown number of error mule coins were minted using the 20 centavos reverse paired with the 1973 copper-nickel peso obverse (N#1105). Differences can be noted in the T, A, I, and M in "ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS" on the obverse.
“T” in ESTADOS - top bar dips down at the ends on regular issue, top bar is straight on mule issue
“A” in ESTADOS - thick with legs connected at the bottom on regular issue, thinner and open on mule issue
“I” in UNIDOS - straight on regular issue, top tilted to the left on mule issue
“M” in MEXICANOS - wide on regular issue, narrow and bold on mule issue
1974 reverse engraver's mark present in prickly pear cactus pad (lower right)
